Franklin to Close a School, Realign Elementary Schools by Grade Level This Fall

COLUMBUS, Ohio-Franklin City Schools will reduce the number of elementary schools from five to four due to the failure of an operating tax levy. The realignment, approved by the Board of Education, will begin in August for the 2024-25 school year.

Each school will host specific grade levels, improving class size distribution and curriculum consistency. Grades 6-7-8 will be housed in Franklin Junior High School. The intermediate campus will continue to serve grades 3-5 until new elementary schools are built. The realignment is estimated to save $2.25 million annually. The district is also closing Anthony Wayne Elementary and Pennyroyal School, putting the latter up for auction.
