April 15th, 2024-FERMONT, Oho-Denice Hirt, a native of Fremont, Ohio, has been appointed as the new superintendent for Fremont City Schools, succeeding Jon C. Detwiler upon his retirement in August 2024. Hirt, who currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent, has a long history within the district, having previously worked as a teacher, principal, and director.
Her promotion comes after a thorough search process conducted by the Fremont Board of Education, ultimately deciding to promote from within the district. Hirt’s extensive experience within the school system positions her well for her new role as superintendent, beginning in the 2024-2025 school year.
