Gov. DeWine Again Urges Legislature to Ban Candy-Styled Delta-8-THC Hemp For Kids

April 11th, 2024-COLUMBUS, Ohio-Governor Mike DeWine urged the General Assembly to prohibit the sale of products containing a form of hemp-derived THC, including candy, gummies, and cereals, at stores accessible to teens. The specific compound in question, Delta-8-THC, is derived from hemp, not marijuana, with the key distinction being the THC concentration—hemp contains 0.3% or less THC, making it legal under the 2018 Farm Bill, whereas marijuana remains federally illegal.
