GREEON, Ohio-Members of the Greenon Federation of Teachers recently conducted a literacy workshop for parents, aimed at enhancing their understanding of literacy strategies. Held on September 14 at Greenon Elementary, the workshop provided parents with essential terminology and practical activities to support their children’s reading development. This initiative also aimed to strengthen connections between educators and parents. The event, sponsored by the Greenon Knights Parent Teacher Organization, included the distribution of free books for students’ home libraries. The Ohio Federation of Teachers plans for this training to be the beginning of ongoing efforts to engage parents in fostering a love of reading, though no further sessions are currently scheduled.
