GROVEPORT, Ohio-The Groveport Madison school board postponed a decision on joining a lawsuit aimed at challenging Ohio’s universal vouchers. Unlike Upper Arlington’s recent meeting, there were no advocates for the lawsuit present. Some audience members raised concerns about Superintendent James Grube’s recent pay increase.
The board had previously received a presentation on the lawsuit but sought further information before making a decision. The lawsuit, known as Vouchers Hurt Ohio, is scheduled for a hearing on November 4 in Franklin County Common Pleas Court. Ohio lawmakers expanded EdChoice Expansion voucher eligibility last year, resulting in increased voucher usage and higher-than-expected costs, estimated to exceed $439 million in fiscal year 2025.
