HILLIARD, Ohio-On September 11, 2024, commemorations were held nationwide and in central Ohio to honor those who sacrificed their lives on September 11, 2001. Sixth graders from Hilliard Station visited the memorial wall at First Responders Park in Westerville, learning about the attacks and their impact. Despite not being alive during the events, students engaged with the memorial, which includes a metal sculpture from the World Trade Center and walls inscribed with names of the victims. Teachers emphasized the importance of educating students about the attacks through primary sources and personal reflections to preserve the memory and lessons of that tragic day. The Hilliard City School District plans to continue these annual educational activities.
