LAKEMORE, Ohio-The S.U.P.E.R Learning Center in Lakemore Village organized a touch-a-truck event on May 6, featuring visits from the Lakemore Police and Fire departments and the Rescue 343-2 Memorial, which travels to schools and community events to educate about the events of 9/11.
The memorial, created by William and Rebecca Kroah, displays photos, flags, and gear from the World Trade Center attacks, along with ashes collected from the site. The purpose is to honor the lives lost, raise awareness about veteran and first responder suicides, and ensure the memory of 9/11 remains alive. Stephanie Renie, a teacher at S.U.P.E.R Learning Center, emphasized the importance of such displays in educating students, especially considering the limited coverage of 9/11 in history textbooks.
