LORAIN, Ohio-Horizon Science Academy of Lorain hosted its annual Hispanic Heritage Dinner on October 15, celebrating the history and contributions of the Hispanic community. The vibrant event featured student performances, live music, and traditional cuisine, promoting cultural pride and diversity. Kicking off with a March of Flags, students showcased flags from various Latin American countries. Highlights included a soulful song by Leila Minnich, poetry recitations by Jayrianis Carrion, and traditional Puerto Rican dances by Sophia Alamo and her group, Esencia Boricua. The evening concluded with live music from Mambo Alto, encouraging everyone to dance. The event emphasized the significance of Hispanic culture in the U.S. and the importance of diversity and inclusion at the school. Student Kayla Kyles highlighted the event’s role in fostering unity and pride within the community.
