CINCINNATI, Ohio-The Wallet Hub report highlights Ohio as one of the top 10 states with the highest student debt. Jillian Ellis, a UC graduate, shares her experience of graduating with $66,000 in student loans and accruing an additional $30,000 for grad school.
Despite the financial challenge, she managed to pay off her debt in three years, attributing her success to careful planning and financial discipline. Ellis allocated 50% of her income towards loan repayment, making sacrifices like living at home and driving an older car. Financial advisor Al Riddick helped her develop a repayment strategy focused on mindset and behavior. Riddick emphasizes the importance of minimizing debt by considering options like starting at a community college before transferring to a four-year institution.
