Indian Lake FFA Students Thrive with New Poultry Project

LEWISTOWN, Ohio-Indian Lake High School/Ohio Hi-Point FFA seniors Meya Karbowiak and Justin Zimmerman are successfully raising 52 turkeys in their campus FFA Barn, benefiting from a new water source that simplifies their daily care tasks. The project, which began in July with the arrival of the poults, has faced initial challenges like aggressive turkey behavior. The students addressed these issues by adding protective fencing and segregating aggressive birds. Supported by the United Way of Logan County and a $3,500 grant from the Ohio FFA Foundation Chapter Success, sponsored by Trillium Farms, the project covers the costs of poults and supplies.
