April 15th, 2024-TOLEDO, Ohio-Robert Shields III, an 18-year-old from Toledo, Ohio, was arrested in Indiana for the alleged shooting death of 15-year-old Jaylah Perry in March. Indiana State Police detained Shields after a traffic stop on I-70 near Knightstown, east of Indianapolis, where they discovered an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
Perry was found shot in the head at a residence on Park Street in north Toledo on March 17. Shields faces charges in Indiana for possession of marijuana and driving without a license, awaiting extradition back to Ohio to face charges related to Perry’s death. Jaylah Perry’s father, John, urged parents to be vigilant and involved in their children’s lives to prevent similar tragedies.
