Learning Elementary Economics

GREENVILLE, Ohio-Fourth-grade students at Greenville Elementary eagerly anticipate their economics unit, taught by Mrs. Flora, Mrs. Duncan, Mrs. Knapke, Mrs. Britsch, and Ms. Voke.

They learn about wealth creation, consumption, and opportunity cost. Through activities like the “opportunity cost sundae,” students explore decision-making with limited resources. They reflect on their choices and imagine scenarios with unlimited funds. They also design and sell products, experiencing business from production to profit. The profits benefit the Darke County Humane Society, chosen by student vote.
