Local High School Students Reimagine Cleveland Burke Lakefront Airport

CLEVELAND, Ohio-Students from Shaker Heights High School, Garrett Morgan, and John Marshall are finalists in the ACE Mentor Program of Cleveland, presenting innovative plans to reimagine Burke Lakefront Airport. Shaker Heights students propose the Strategic Pipeline for Aviation, Conservation, and Education (S.P.A.C.E) Training Center to address a predicted pilot shortage, partnering with local educational institutions.

Garrett Morgan envisions transforming Burke into a lakefront community with diverse amenities, anticipating a $5 billion investment over 12 years. John Marshall’s proposal focuses on recreational facilities, sustainable housing, and environmental initiatives to enhance the site. These projects demonstrate students’ creativity, urban planning, and sustainability considerations, fostering their interest in architecture, construction, and engineering careers through hands-on learning and mentorship.
