Local Principal Finds a Way to Show Gratitude to Teacher Through Yearly Tradition

TOLEDO, Ohio-Greenwood Elementary School Principal Bill Colon continues his tradition of grilling a meal for his staff during the last week of school, a practice he’s upheld for 22 years. With homemade barbecue sauce, he grills chicken and corn as a token of appreciation for his teachers.

The labor-intensive cooking process showcases his commitment, with each piece taking about an hour to prepare. The gesture is deeply valued by the staff, fostering a sense of camaraderie and appreciation. Colon sees it as a way to give back to the teachers who dedicate themselves to the students year-round, vowing to continue the tradition as long as he remains in education.
