KETTERING, Ohio -On Tuesday morning, Kettering Fairmont High School students encountered a distressing situation when a man described as a “religious activist” shouted offensive comments targeting the LGBTQ+ community using a bullhorn. The incident, captured on cell phone video by parents dropping off their children, heightened concerns about school safety amid recent threat hoaxes. Although the man was asked to leave, he was not arrested. Parents expressed their anxiety, with one stating she wouldn’t leave until she confirmed her child’s safety. Kettering City Schools Superintendent Mindy McCarty-Stewart praised the students for their composure during the incident, while the school is collaborating with local law enforcement and offering counseling for affected students.
