Man convicted in 2021 shooting death of 6th grader sentenced to prison

A man who was convicted in the August 2021 shooting on the corner of Austin and Elm that resulted in an 11-year-old dying was sentenced to prison on Monday.

According to court records, Tyler Williams, of Toledo, appeared in court on Jan. 27 where he pleaded guilty to Involuntary Manslaughter and Discharge of a Firearm On or Near Prohibited Premises in the death of Nathan Sumner. Judge Lindsay Navarre then sentenced him to serve 20 to 25.5 years in prison.
