One of two suspects in a fatal shooting near a King-Lincoln Bronzeville daycare where children were sleeping will spend more than two decades in prison.
Charles Calaway, 32, previously pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and discharging a firearm near a prohibited premises.
Judge Chris Brown ordered Calaway to serve 25 to 30½ years in prison.
Around 1:30 p.m. on May 12, 2023, Calaway shot 28-year-old Javon Tucker near the Atcheson Place Lofts apartments on Atcheson Street in the King-Lincoln Bronzeville neighborhood. Tucker was rushed to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center where he died.
