Mansfield City Schools Faces $3.9 Million Deficit Next School Year

MANSFIELD, Ohio-Mansfield City Schools is projected to run out of money by the end of the 2025-2026 school year, according to its latest five-year financial forecast. The district, facing declining enrollment and revenue, may be placed under state fiscal oversight. Interim treasurer Jennifer Hedrick warned that the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce could designate the district under fiscal watch, requiring a plan to address the deficit. A fiscal watch could lead to a state takeover, a situation the district previously faced from 2013 to 2016. The district’s financial troubles worsened after a recent levy failure.
