MANSFIELD, Ohio-The Mapleton Board of Education approved repairs for the middle school gym roof, which sustained damage during a severe storm in June. The storm caused significant damage to approximately half of the roof’s decking and insulation. Due to the age of the roof, originally constructed in the 1960s, the entire roof requires repair as the original materials and construction standards are no longer available, according to superintendent Scott Smith.
