Marysville School Board Places Emergency Tax Levy on November Ballot

MARYSVILLE, Ohio-The Marysville Exempted Village School District faces potential reductions in staffing and extracurricular activities if a new emergency levy does not pass in November. The proposed 5.5 mill tax levy, on the ballot for November 5, aims to address a projected deficit due to rising costs, increasing enrollment, and loss of funding. The last levy passed in 2008. If approved, the levy would generate an additional $900,000 to cover operational costs and potentially reinstate supplemental contracts for extracurriculars, transportation for trips, and class size caps for the 2025-26 school year. It would cost homeowners $192.50 annually per $100,000 of home value. If the levy fails, the district plans to increase fees for athletics and extracurriculars, eliminate the school resource officer program, and make significant staffing reductions across elementary, intermediate, middle, and high schools, affecting various programs and class sizes.
