Mason kindergartener, Dearborn County High Schooler Finalists in Doodle for Google contest

MASON, Ohio–Two local students, Talia Perera from Mason Early Childhood Center and Carson Mapes from East Central High School, are finalists in Google’s Doodle for Google contest, where students create a Google logo based on a theme. This year’s theme, “My wish for the next 25 years,” inspired Talia’s doodle “A better earth,” depicting her hope for a world with all seasons, Moon vacations, and peace.

Carson’s entry, “Together We Heal,” showcases children gardening and symbols of peace to emphasize healing the Earth. National finalists receive a $5,000 college scholarship, with the national winner receiving a $55,000 scholarship, $50,000 for their school, and their artwork displayed on Google.com. Voting for national finalists is ongoing, and Mason City Schools praised Talia’s creativity while thanking her teachers for fostering her artistic talent.
