Mom Wants Accountability After Nonverbal, Autistic Son ‘was Able to Sneak off’ From Winton Woods

CINCINNATI, Ohio-A Cincinnati mother is demanding accountability after her 7-year-old autistic son was found wandering in a Greenhills neighborhood. The child, who is nonverbal, was discovered by police on Hamlin Drive after reportedly attempting to enter homes. He had wandered off from Winton Woods South Campus during recess, where he was supervised by four adults along with other students.

Although the child was returned to the school’s principal and teacher unharmed, questions remain regarding how he managed to leave the school grounds unnoticed and why the school delayed contacting his mother. The district has yet to respond to requests for comment, and it remains unclear if anyone will face charges in the incident.
