New Cleveland Schools Teachers Contract Includes Cellphone Ban, Raises and Parental Leave

CLEVELAND, Ohio-The Cleveland Metropolitan School District’s Board of Education approved a new contract with the Cleveland Teachers Union, introducing a cellphone storage policy for students across schools.

The policy aims to enhance safety, reduce distractions, and improve learning environments. Additionally, the contract includes significant updates such as 12 weeks of paid leave for new parents and salary raises for all union members. The board also discussed financial matters, highlighting recent layoffs and budget cuts to improve the district’s financial standing.
