New Security Measures Added Before Columbus School Board Meetings

COLUMBUS, Ohio-Columbus City Schools will implement new security screenings for all staff, board members, and attendees at Board of Education meetings starting August 6. The screenings will include handheld wands and walk-through detectors. Board members will hold office hours from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m. before the 6 p.m. business meetings at the South Administrative Building. The new protocols are introduced in response to rising national safety concerns and aim to ensure a secure environment for all participants. CCS Safety & Security staff will assist guests, and Director Chris Baker emphasized that while new security measures may be inconvenient, they are essential for maintaining safety.
