COLUMBUS, Ohio-The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (ODEW) released a new resource on May 15 aimed at helping school districts address school attendance issues. Titled “Ohio School Attendance Guide: District and School Practices in Early Intervention,” the guide emphasizes proactive early intervention strategies to tackle attendance challenges in Ohio schools.
It provides an overview of attendance issues in the state’s schools, highlights relevant laws, and offers practical strategies for addressing attendance systematically. Key elements include early preventative measures, data utilization, and a multitiered intervention approach. The guide also offers strategies for both district-wide and building-specific interventions.
