Public libraries across Ohio have entered the new fiscal year with a $25 million reduction in state funding, due to a change in how public libraries are funded under the state’s new budget. The funding shift moves libraries away from receiving a percentage of state tax revenue and instead allocates a fixed line item, affecting all 251 public library systems across the state. In addition, the budget redirects $10.3 million each year from the public library fund to other state agencies and services.
