Ohio Parents Could Split Child Care Costs With Employer, State Under New GOP Bill

COLUMBUS, Ohio-Proposed legislation in Ohio aims to alleviate the burden of child care costs for families by introducing a tri-share program. Modeled after similar initiatives in other states, this program would involve participating employers, the state, and employees sharing the cost of child care equally.

Families earning up to 300% of the federal poverty line would be eligible, with the program administered through regional hubs. The goal is to reduce child care expenses by two-thirds for many Ohio families, addressing concerns raised by rising child care costs in the state.
