MARION, Ohio-Marion Post Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian and a Ford Escape on Center Street near Chicago Avenue. The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. Preliminary findings indicate that an 85-year-old woman driving the Escape struck 72-year-old Linda Showalter as she pulled onto Center Street from a private drive. Both were subsequently hit by a Kenworth T480 truck traveling east. Showalter suffered fatal injuries at the scene. The driver of the Escape and her passenger sustained minor injuries and were taken to Marion General Hospital. Two children with Showalter, ages 7 and 2, were also involved; the 2-year-old sustained minor injuries, while the 7-year-old was unharmed. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
