COLUMBUS, Ohio-A Columbus teenager, Akie Benjamin, previously urged by his mother to be kept locked up due to his repeated car thefts, was arrested again for stealing a Kia near the John Glenn Columbus International Airport. Police received a Flock camera alert about the stolen car, leading to Benjamin’s apprehension after a chase that ended with him crashing into a cruiser.
He admitted to stealing the car and was found with suspected crack cocaine. Benjamin’s mother had pleaded with authorities in the past to take action against his car thefts. He faces charges including receiving stolen property, possession of cocaine, and three misdemeanors and is currently held in Franklin County jail.
