The Bridgeport Exempted Village School District honored two special contributors during the June 30 meeting. The board of education recognized Harley Johnston, who had served as resource officer for nine years until his retirement at the end of the school year. Superintendent Brent Ripley said Johnston was a steady presence, insuring security and inspiring confidence.
