An Ohio school district’s contested transgender restroom policy was constitutional before the Statehouse passed a law restricting bathroom use, a federal appeals court ruled last month. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit decided on Aug. 26 in a 2022 lawsuit by national group “American First Legal,” which alleged Dayton-area Bethel Local School District violated the religious liberty of parents and students when a trans student was permitted to use the girls’ restrooms.
