NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio-Jason M. Gordon, aged 32, has been sentenced to 55 years to life in prison for child sex abuse crimes dating back over a decade, involving three young children. Tuscarawas County Common Pleas Court Judge Elizabeth Thomakos imposed the sentence, along with a lifetime Tier 3 sex offender designation.
The decision was based on the severity of the offenses and the harm caused to the victims. One victim came forward a few years ago, leading to the indictment in 2022 for counts of rape and gross sexual imposition. Assistant County Prosecutor Kristine Beard highlighted Gordon’s admission to molesting other children during investigation and emphasized the necessity of protecting the public from him. Gordon had previously admitted to the charges but was allowed to vacate his plea due to a technicality. After undergoing competency evaluations, he was found guilty last month. The possibility of additional charges from the grand jury remains uncertain.
