SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP, Ohio-Shawnee 8th graders participated in the “Real Money. Real World.” program, a financial simulation organized by Superior Credit Union and the Ohio State Extension office of Allen County. Each student was assigned a job, a family, and an income to navigate through stations representing real-life expenses like childcare, housing, transportation, and insurance.
The program aimed to provide students with an eye-opening experience about financial responsibilities and the importance of budgeting. Students expressed their newfound understanding of saving money and managing finances, highlighting the valuable skills they gained from the simulation.
