Springfield Schools to Stop Closing for Threats, will Add Safety Help From State

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio-Springfield City Schools will remain open this week with heightened safety measures, rather than closing buildings as they did previously in response to non-credible bomb threats. Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced that 36 members of the Ohio State Highway Patrol will conduct daily sweeps of the schools and remain present during school hours and dismissal. This increased security comes in response to 33 threats made against schools, government offices, officials, and hospitals over the past week, none of which have proven to be actual threats.
