Student Protest Cancelled at Garfield Heights High School Due to Threats of Serious Violence

GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio-The One in Five Foundation for Kids, a national nonprofit aimed at preventing school tragedies and bullying, has canceled a planned protest against violence in Garfield Heights schools due to serious threats. Founded after the Uvalde school shooting, the organization intended to protest ongoing violence and teacher resignations. However, threats of violence and counter-protests led to the decision to postpone. The foundation’s founder, Daniel Chapin, expressed disappointment over the negative response and claimed that Ohio State Representative Darnell Brewer has not followed up on promises to help. Brewer, however, insists he has been working on the issue and will address it at upcoming events. Despite the setback, the foundation will continue its efforts, including formal complaints and a hunger fast.
