MIDDLETOWN, Ohio-High school seniors at Middletown High School are set to graduate with both their high school diploma and a college associate degree, thanks to the Early College Academy, a partnership between Miami University and six nearby high schools. Students attend classes at the university’s Middletown or Hamilton campuses during their junior and senior years.
Isaac Stamper, part of the program’s first class, highlights the opportunities it offers and its potential for diverse career paths. The program, catering to independent learners, has seen success, with an average GPA of 3.4 among participants. Stamper plans to pursue real estate or sports management after graduating. Miami University intends to expand the program, which currently includes about 100 students from various high schools. Middletown High School’s Early College Academy students will graduate on May 16th alongside their peers, equipped with both diploma and degree.
