CHARDON, Ohio-A “swatting” incident on Monday prompted a temporary “shelter-in-place” order at Chardon High School, the site of a 2012 shooting that killed three students. Chardon police reported that a crisis hotline received chat messages from someone claiming to be armed in a school restroom. The operator recognized the messages as likely from a swatter, similar to recent reports. As a precaution, students and staff were instructed to shelter-in-place while officers conducted a safety sweep. School activities resumed once the building was deemed safe.
