After Rodriguez and his companion attempted to evade Marquez and Santiago’s vehicle, shots were fired, hitting Rodriguez and another teen. Rodriguez died from his injuries on September 4, 2020. Marquez pleaded guilty to intimidation of a witness, involuntary manslaughter, and felonious assault. Santiago entered an Alford plea to involuntary manslaughter and felonious assault, acknowledging the evidence against him without admitting guilt.
