Teenagers from 15 to 19 years old are the most at risk of being injured by fireworks —they’re also the most likely to end up in the emergency room with fireworks-related injuries. Children from 5 to 9 years old had the second-highest rate, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Hand and finger injuries (an estimated 35%) were the most common, with head, face and ears the second-most common. About 42% of injuries treated in emergency departments were for burns.
