‘We Want to Grow Their Independence’: Center for Blind, Visually Impaired Holds Musical Theater Camp

CINCINNATI, Ohio-The Clovernook Center for the Blind & Visually Impaired organized its first-ever musical theater camp, catering exclusively to blind and visually impaired students. Held at the Procter Center in North College Hill, the one-week camp focused on teaching new songs and dances daily, using accommodations like braille lyrics and large-print displays with a black background. Students, who will showcase their rehearsals to their families on Friday, expressed enjoyment and enthusiasm for the experience. The camp aimed to empower participants by fostering independence, confidence, and skills through music, crafting, and performance of well-known Disney songs like “Bear Necessities” and “Under the Sea.”
