WESTERVILLE, Ohio-The Westerville City School Board of Education has unanimously decided to place a combined bonds and levies issue on the November ballot. Issue 44 includes a 1.66 mill bond and a 4.9 mill operating levy, requiring voters to address both with a single vote. The measures aim to fund infrastructure improvements for older school buildings, including Cherrington and Huber Ridge Elementary Schools, Blendon Middle School, and Walnut Springs Middle School, as well as enhance music and performing arts facilities, safety measures, and preschool and stadium support. The bond portion would raise $140 million, while the operating levy is expected to generate nearly $21 million annually. If passed, the levy would cost a Westerville homeowner with a $100,000 appraised value approximately $172 per year.
