COLUMBUS, Ohio-The Ohio High School Athletic Association announced new football playoff divisions for central Ohio, affecting twenty teams. Ten teams moved up a division due to competitive balance or increased enrollment, while another ten dropped a classification for the same reasons.
Nine additional teams would have changed divisions but remained in their current spots due to competitive balance considerations. Division I remains the largest with 70 schools, while the other six divisions are evenly divided. Changes also affected regions, with some Division I schools moving between regions 2 and 3. The classifications for other sports like baseball, basketball, soccer, softball, and volleyball will be announced later, with expansions expected in the number of divisions for those sports.
