WHS Grad Awarded Scholarship at Jefferson Alumni in Adams Co.

BLUE CREEK, Ohio-Since 2003, the Jefferson alumni in Blue Creek, Adams County, have awarded 171 scholarships to graduating seniors, thanks to generous donations and the vision of Ron Lykins and his late wife, Ruth. This year, 17 $1,000 scholarships were presented, including two new ones: The Heinz Phipps Memorial Scholarship and the May Family Scholarship. Among these, eight Don & Flo Armstrong Memorial Scholarships were awarded in memory of former teachers and JHS graduates.

Adriana, a recent graduate of Wilmington High School, received one of these scholarships. She excelled academically and volunteered extensively, influenced by an intervention specialist in elementary school. Adriana plans to pursue a career in education at Wright State University. Contributions to the Jefferson Alumni Scholarship program are welcome and can be sent to Linda Stepp. Applicants must be direct descendants of Jefferson High School graduates, with applications due each year by the last Friday in April.
