Why Akron’s STEM High School Construction Delays are Halting Hands-on Lab Work

AKRON, Ohio-STEM High School in Akron Public Schools is facing construction delays during its move from Robinson Community Learning Center. The installation of essential lab equipment like wall cabinets and countertops is postponed, impacting hands-on lab work for students in biology, chemistry, environmental sciences, and biotechnology. Construction might continue into November, affecting the first grading period. The school, which recently relocated from Central Hower High School to Robinson CLC, is one of the district’s top performers with a 4.5-star rating on the 2024 Ohio education report card, compared to the district’s 2.5-star average.
