CINCINNATI, Ohio-The Cincinnati Public Schools board appointed Shauna Murphy as the interim superintendent following the resignation of Superintendent Iranetta Wright, who faced a “no-confidence” vote from district unions. Dr. Alesia Smith will serve as the interim deputy superintendent.
Wright’s separation package includes maintaining her salary and medical benefits until July 31, 2025, along with a payout for unused vacation time. The agreement includes a mutual release of claims and a statement of no admission of fault from the school board. The district faces a $26 million budget deficit and may need to make staff cuts. The interim leadership is tasked with finalizing the budget and addressing the deficit. Further details will be discussed at the next school board meeting on June 3.
