CLE Students Greeted with New Rule on First Day

CLEVELAND, Ohio-On the first day back to school for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD), CEO Dr. Warren Morgan visited Whitney M. Young School and introduced a new policy banning cell phones during school hours. Students are required to store their phones in pouches provided by the school. Dr. Morgan, who has been CEO for a year and previously worked in the district, is optimistic about the policy’s impact, citing positive results from year-round schools and similar policies in other districts like Akron. He highlighted the district’s progress, noting improvements in school performance and student outcomes since his earlier tenure. Despite budget challenges and necessary cuts, Dr. Morgan remains focused on enhancing the instructional core and is pleased with rising attendance and college applications.
