Cleveland Father Who Says Infant Son accidentally Choked to Death on Baby Wipe Gets Life in Prison

CLEVELAND, Ohio-Traveon Hughes Sr. was sentenced to life in prison for murdering his infant son by stuffing a baby wipe down his throat. Despite his attorney’s claim of innocence and plans for appeal, Hughes received the sentence allowing parole eligibility after 15 years.

The child, Traveon Jr., choked to death while Hughes was home with him, leading to a trial where conflicting narratives emerged. The prosecution argued against the feasibility of the child causing his death, while Hughes and his supporters contended his innocence. Despite pleas from family members for justice, McEwen, the child’s mother, defended Hughes, prompting heated exchanges during the sentencing.
