COLUMBUS, Ohio-Melissa Thorp, a Columbus mother, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the aggravated murder of her 4-month-old son, Aaron Thorp. She pleaded guilty in Franklin County Court of Common Pleas after calling police on September 12, 2022, to report her son’s death. Aaron Thorp was found deceased in a state of decomposition at their apartment on Jefferson Avenue in downtown Columbus. The coroner’s investigation determined his death resulted from blunt force trauma to the right side of his skull.
