COLUMBUS, Ohio-Katt Johnson was outraged when she arrived at Eastland Performance Academy to find that an ambulance hadn’t been called for her son, who had been violently assaulted by another student. Despite her urgent requests, the school staff did not contact the police either. Johnson’s son suffered severe injuries, including a skull fracture and a ruptured eardrum, and he spent the night in the hospital. Johnson intends to press charges against the attacker and is critical of the school’s handling of the incident, particularly the inaction of a teacher present during the assault. Superintendent Jeff Luelleman stated that the school is cooperating with law enforcement and is investigating the incident, but he did not address the staff’s delays in calling for help.
