Ohio Association of Two-Year Colleges Discusses Education Dynamics at Annual Conference

LIMA Ohio-At the Ohio Association of Two-Year Colleges’ annual conference held at Rhodes State College, educator Candy Van Buskirk discussed the evolving nature of education. She emphasized the importance of experiential learning, arguing that student engagement has declined and that hands-on, real-world learning opportunities are more effective in helping students connect with the material. As two-year colleges play a crucial role in workforce preparation, Van Buskirk stressed that offering practical, applicable experiences enhances student learning and provides deeper understanding. The theme of the conference, *Rocket Education: Ignite, Launch, Soar*, focused on how higher education must adapt to better meet students’ needs.
